Our Meat Goats Make Great Breeding Stock

At J-I Ranch in Bedias, Texas, we offer pasture-fed, free-range adult and young goats for sale. Our Myotonic meat goats (also known as "fainting goats") are perfect for herd improvement or as foundation stock for starting-up a new herd. For those interested in meat cross-breeding programs; Myotonic bucks are being used in many programs specifically to yield a higher production meat goat with increased tenderness. Myotonic crosses are increasingly attracting the attention of commercial breeders.

Interested in show-quality goats? Our 100% Myotonic bloodlines and breeding program contain Grand Champion bucks, does, and wethers.

Pasture-Fed, Free-Range Goats

Our goats are primarily pasture-fed and given lots of room to roam, so they are very active and conditioned. With 34 acres, we are able to have regularly scheduled pasture rotations. We plant Austrian peas, oats, barley, and/or winter rye to supplement the native grasses, weeds, twigs, and leaves to provide a wide variety of vegetation for our active browsers. Mineral tubs with copper and salt blocks are located in every pasture. The goats’ diet is supplemented with feed mix and hay or alfalfa, as required. There is nothing like a bit of feed and daily contact to keep your goats easily handled.

Sales Policy

There is a $100 non-refundable deposit to hold a specific goat. The balance is due in cash or money order at pick-up time. Goats that are not picked up at weaning or as arranged will be charged a $5/day for board. To help with the transition to a new diet, a sack of feed mix can be provided when you pick up your goats. If requested, a health certificate can be provided at the expense of the buyer. There are no returns. Wethers must be paid-in-full prior to wethering.

Testing

All breeding does and bucks are tested annually for Caseous Lymphadenitis (CL), Caprine Arthritis Encephalitis (CAE), and Johnes Disease.
